To help you get started creating quality listings on OfferUp, we’ve created a list of best practices.
Pay attention to the details
Every listing requires the following:
- Title
- Price
- Images
- Description
- Condition
- Category
- Shipping information (speed & cost)
OfferUp currently allows basic HTML code during this information transfer. ChannelAdvisor will send your item details to OfferUp for you once you’ve linked your account, but it’s important to make sure that this information was transferred over correctly.
Each of your listing details should be accurate and honest. Be specific about the item and make sure the item details are clear and easy to understand. If you choose to inaccurately describe an item in the description, you may risk an increase in returns.
Depending on the type of item you’re listing, you may be required to provide more information. For example, clothing items require details such as brand, style, condition, material, etc. Don’t include details in postings like URLs, personal information, keywords, or price point (such as “Under $100). Terms like these can manipulate the search results for items.
What not to include
Don’t include phone numbers, email addresses, or links to your company store or other websites. Do not include alternative shipping offers, details of availability, or price. Do not include customer quotes, testimonials, or reviews. Do not use all capital letters for words or sentences except for titles where the proper case is allowed. Do not use JavaScript or other types of code in your description except for HTML tags.
Note: You may include links to warranty information as needed. We allow some HTML tags and strip unsupported tags out of the description so be sure to validate your listings in our Pro Seller Portal.
For more information, see our Posting Rules.
Don’t post duplicates
If you post duplicates of the same item, shoppers may get confused about which one is which. We recommend checking your items aren’t duplicated in listings to avoid any confusion or extra charge.
IMPORTANT: At this time, we display all child SKUs as individual listings.
You will notice multiple listings for variations in items. For example, if you have the same shoe in 5 sizes, 5 different listings will be shown on OfferUp. You can include details in your titles such as your product size and color.
All payments must be done through OfferUp
Once a customer purchases an item of yours, the payment will automatically be deposited into the bank account you provided. For more information on payments, click here.
